June is shaping up to be a good month for queer TV heroines. In addition to the final season of Orphan Black, we get Season 2 of Wynonna Earp starting June 9. In case you are unfamiliar with the Syfy western here is the premise in a nutshell. Wynonna Earp (Melanie Scrofano) is the great, great grand-daughter of lawman Wyatt Earp and heir to the Earp family curse. See Wyatt sent a bunch of bad dudes to their final resting place, or so he thought. Turns out they keep coming back as demons and pestering his progeny. Wynonna is the latest heir destined to battle the revenants with Wyatt’s Colt 45 until the curse can be broken for good. While Wynonna is not queer, as far as we know, her bisexual little sister Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) is dating the local lesbian deputy, Officer Haught (Katherine Barrell). (Shipper name: WayHaught) Wynonna it seems prefers older men and gets herself entangled with Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon),yes that Doc Holliday. Wynonna Earp is helmed by Emily Andras, the show runner from Lost Girl. Overall the show is a fun, campy romp full of witty one liners and badass babes with guns. If the trailer is any indication, the second season is going to be even more epic than the first. If you want to catch up on Season 1 before the new season starts it is available on Netflix now.
